Golden Retriever Puppy Training
Most golden retriever puppy training starts when the dogs are very young and still are cared for by the mother dog.
These dogs make excellent hunters, but not all their owners go hunting. A dog of this breed should have a job to do to burn off its excessive energy. It's not recommended to exercise these dogs in the heat of the day. If the weather is hot, a dog should have access to shade, free moving air, and water. Swimming is ideal activity for this breed in summer. It's excellent exercise for a dog or for a puppy. Swimming is also a good chance to play fetch and socialize a dog with other dogs and people.

Every purebred well-mannered dog should pass through the Canine Good Citizen test, made up of 10 tasks. The dog should accept a friendly stranger and allow petting and grooming, without showing shyness, aggression or resentment. The dog should be able to walk on a loose lead. It also should be able to walk freely through the crowd in public places and sit down in the place commanded by the handler, waiting for him. The well-mannered dog should show no more than a casual interest, but not aggressiveness towards strange dogs and cats.
